Research and knowledge management

A key objective of the Center is to drive practical action research and knowledge management around shelter finance. This objective will be met through the following efforts:

  • Generating and funding of the shelter finance research agenda.
  • Producing and disseminating open source articles, studies, guides and tools in housing microfinance practice
  • Promoting visibility of best practice housing microfinance and shelter finance through virtual events, website postings, blogs, industry events and publications.


Publications

Funding from the Rockefeller Foundation helped HFHI prepare this five-country feasibility study on social investment for scaling housing microfinance: Capitalizing Housing Finance for the Poor.

Accion and HFHI collaborated on a study that led to Accion Insight No. 21 Getting to Scale in Housing Microfinance by Christy Stickney and Nino Mesarino.

An internal evaluation by consultant Jan Maes on HFH Nepal’s work with village savings groups: Building on a Foundation of Savings.
