Botswana closure

August 23, 2012, saw HFH AME officially close the HFH Botswana National Office in a handing over ceremony attended by Greg Foster, AME Area Vice President and Anita Ebersohn AME Legal Counsel. This move was made in an attempt to direct our resources toward country programs where Habitat can make its biggest impact. A local organization, the Botswana Council of Churches (BCC), was identified to take over the assets of HFH Botswana, and they will continue to build on the housing legacy of Habitat in the country.
BCC, as a local organization and with its global network of church partners, will allow the Habitat vision for the country to live on. During its existence, HFH Botswana served 2,200 families. BCC will be carrying on Habitat’s mission, but not using the Habitat name or branding. They will function under the name, Oiko Livelihoods.
