Safe, Decent, Affordable Toilets For All
Hygienic sanitation is part of a healthy home. Millions of families across the Asia-Pacific region and around the world face daily danger and indignity to complete the most basic of human functions. This year is the United Nations Year of the Sanitation. The focus is on raising awareness and offering practical ways to assist those in poverty gain access to basic sanitation.
A highlight of the United Nations Year of the Sanitation is the World Toilet Summit & Expo 2008 to be held in Macau, China, in November. The event brings together representatives from UN agencies, governments, non-governmental agencies, academia and the private sector for a conference and exhibition.
Habitat for Humanity International is an official partner of the World Toilet Summit & Expo 2008. Habitat for Humanity will be hosting a series of expert speakers looking at practical solutions to bring low-cost, environmentally-sound sanitation to poor communities.
