Fund-raising Goal: Raise $500 million
The second objective of the More Than Houses campaign was a goal of raising $500 million to fund the accelerated building required by the campaign’s building goal of 100,000 homes in five years. By Dec. 31, 2005, the More Than Houses campaign had raised more than $593 million. This incredible feat will enable Habitat for Humanity International and the local Habitat affiliates to sustain the long-term growth brought on by the increased building demand and to reach ever-greater numbers of families currently living in substandard housing.
Individuals, corporations and foundations were integral to the success of the More Than Houses campaign. The campaign was led by the Cornerstone Society, those donors who gave more than $5 million to support the campaign, and the Developer Society, the donors who committed more than $1 million to the campaign.
Habitat national organization and affiliates were also important contributors to the More Than Houses campaign. Their local campaigns contributed greatly to the overall fulfillment of the campaign’s goals. $130 million of the total amount raised for the campaign was raised by participating U.S. affiliates and national organizations.
