The joining of many -- Habitat for Humanity Int'l 1
June 3, 2008The joining of many
One of the most rewarding aspects of being involved in a multi-party project like Home Builders Blitz is the blending of many different companies, teams, suppliers and volunteer groups. How often have you wanted to be able to cherry pick a top framing crew from one company, a superintendent from another and then add to the mix some of the area’s top suppliers and subs? I know how rewarding it is for the local Habitat affiliate to work with so many different groups and to demonstrate our community’s need in a very personal and focused manner.
The flip side is the increased amount of communication needed to manage such a complex group. As anyone involved in construction knows, each super, each crew and each company do things their own way. When you start blending crews together, it’s important to have strong leaders in place that truly understand building science, have the patience of an instructor and the savvy of a veteran superintendent.
Our blitz build could not have asked for a better leadership team than that of our Volunteer Construction Director Jason Ramey, of Ramey Construction, and our Framing Captain, Jay Alderson, of Alderson Custom Homes. It is their leadership and abilities that are making this project possible and they deserve the highest possible praise for generously giving of their time and resources.
