Five days and 10 dreams made a reality -- Habitat for Humanity Int'l 1
June 10, 2006Five days and 10 dreams made a reality
This past week flew by with a blink of an eye, and it is hard to believe all that was accomplished in such little time. Waking up this morning, my sore muscles reminded me of the heavy lifting that was done by so many in order to make the dream of homeownership a reality for 10 Milwaukee families. Numerous suppliers and subcontractors all stepped up and together donated thousands of dollars of materials and hundreds of hours of labor so that we could deliver these homes at no cost to Habitat for Humanity. Nearly everyone at our organization volunteered to spend at least a few hours at our job site during the week to help with miscellaneous duties including painting, clean-up, landscaping, etc. As an organization it was a fantastic team-building experience and I think everyone not only had fun, but also walked away with a sense of accomplishment and pride from marking their own little stamp on our two families’ homes. As for our two very deserving families, it is our hope that they will build a lifetime of happy memories inside their homes which were touched by so many compassionate hands over a five-day period. At least they’ll have a great story to share….
