What a powerful way to spend a week! -- Habitat for Humanity Int'l 1
June 12, 2006What a powerful way to spend a week!
Last week I traveled to seven cities to thank the home builders for building a Habitat for Humanity home. Without exception every builder thanked me for getting them involved. Many said they had wanted to get involved with Habitat but didn’t know quite how. Others had never thought much about it. But all agreed that the Home Builders Blitz was a perfect way for them to get involved. Many of us work for other charities. But the Home Builders Blitz is an incredible way for a home builder to give back to his or her community. By taking a vacation for Habitat for a week most of us were able to give — with the help of our trade partners — a home worth approximately $60,000. What a powerful way to spend a week!
We must be thankful for the vision of Millard Fuller, carried out by dedicated Habitat staff and volunteers that provide such an ideal way to give back. I believe the Home Builders Blitz is a perfect marriage for home builders and Habitat to increase the capacity of Habitat to provide safe, affordable, simple housing to deserving families. We need to continue this program.
