Home

HFH of Alamance Co. is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.

Hammers

Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - "sweat equity" - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses.

News

During 2014 Habitat for Humanity of Alamance County will build on scattered sites throughout Alamance County. We plan to build 6 - 8 affordable, energy-efficient houses this year.

Our house sponsors in 2014 include: Twin Lakes Community, Elon Community Church, Alamance Lutheran Church, Macedonia Lutheran Church, First United Methodist Church of Elon, Pureflow Inc., Elon University HFH campus chapter, the Builders & Realtors Associations, and more!

Our present construction sites include Morehead Street, Farningham Lane (donated by Bank of America), Sidney Avenue, Rauhut Street, and Key Street. Upcoming builds are planned for Foster Street in Burlington and North Main Street in Graham.

Ben Court, an 18-house subdivision in Graham, was completed in 2012. This Habitat neighborhood was named in memory of Ben Wade, a long time Habitat volunteer, and was built on land graciously donated by the Hayden-Harman Foundation.

The Habitat for Humanity ReStore, located at 1176 N. Church Street in Burlington, is open 5 days each week. Store hours are Tues.- Fri. 9:30am-5:30pm, and Sat. 9am-4pm. The ReStore sells new and used furniture, appliances, building materials, and household goods.
