Bedford Virginia HFH is a locally run affiliate of
Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for
Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The
houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - "sweat equity" - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses. Back To Top |

![]() We are continually searching for qualified families to partner with us in building their house. The house is sold to them at cost with a no-interest mortgage. Phone 540 587-0280 to leave a request for information on applying. Bedford HFH did not build a house in 2009 as no qualified families were found. Open House was Sunday, September 28, 2008 for house #13, an energy efficient structure certified by EarthCraft Virginia. House #12 was also certified energy efficient. Bedford HFH is doing its first rehab at 1083 Oriole Court in Body Camp. New vinyl siding, new metal roofing, revitalized insulation and closing air infiltration, new heating system, new appliances and water heater will make this three bedroom house into a home for a deserving family. Donations, which may be made online, are always needed to support Bedford Habitat in moving eligible families to home ownership. Donate autos, trucks, motor homes, boats, farm and construction equipment through Habitat for Humanity's national Cars for Homes Program. Call 1-877-277-4344 or visit www.carsforhomes.org. The public is always welcome to attend the Habitat Board meetings held the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM in the conference room at 108 Center Street, Bedford.
