Central Nebraska HFH is a locally run affiliate of
Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for
Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The
houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - "sweat equity" - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses. Back To Top |

 What an exciting place to be!! At the beginning of a growing program that will have implemental power to change and uplift Central Nebraska with the proven record of Habitat for Humanity.January 13, 2005 Central Nebraska Habitat for Humanity became a reality with the help of a capacity grant from Habitat International as a pilot study. This huge undertaking is giving hard working families a hand up in a large geographic area with sparse population. Through the untiring devotion of our Executive Director, Dorothy Davis and a few volunteer board members Central Nebraska HFH has five active chapters and the Habitat excitement is building in four other communities. In our first year we have helped two partner families realize their dreams of living in a simple decent home. With God as our partner we plan to help four families in 2006 and eight in 2007. The beginning of Central Nebraska Habitat for Humanity is definitely an exciting place to be!! |

Our volunteers are saying they get more out of the program than even the partner families. With a sense of community development and personal pride in a job well done, volunteers are always needed. Whether you like to pound nails, send thank you cards, bake cookies or are interested in sitting on our still developing professional governing Board of Directors, you are needed and very welcome to become a part of the Central Nebraska HFH team.
