is a locally run affiliate of
Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for
Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The
houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - "sweat equity" - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses. Back To Top |

 Recently, we dedicated houses 17 and 18 in a wonderful double ceremony in Spanish and English. It was a great day for our affiliate! The Sokolovsky and Hernandez families were thrilled, and so were the rest of us!Special thanks to the businesses and church groups that sent extra volunteers to help us finish three houses in one year for the first time! Our annual meeting will be held Saturday, Feb. 2, at 9:30 a.m. at Sinai Lutheran Church. A breakfast will be served and election of new board members will take place. We'll be honoring a number of people and groups who have made unique contributions to Habitat this year. Please come and join us. |

Construction work is done for the season, but there are a number of events coming up in which we could use your help. It's not too early to begin to think of ways you might contribute to our Servant Auction, slated for Friday, March 22, at the dining hall at Midland Lutheran College. We are in need of a volunteer to help us find and secure lots for building. If you know of someone who might be interested in this task, please call or visit our office. For more information call our office at 721-8771. The office is usually staffed from 9 a.m. till noon Monday through Friday. If you or someone you know is in need of simple, decent, affordable housing, please call our office for more information about the process of applying for Habitat home ownership. |
