HFH Kelowna is a locally run affiliate of
Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for
Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The
houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - "sweat equity" - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses. Back To Top |

September 2009 -- Timothy's World Coffee will be celebrating the 4th annual LatteBene Day Thursday, Oct 1st. All proceeds from the sale of every LatteBene will be donated to Habitat for Humanity Canada for their Global Village program. Please visit your local Timothy's at the Orchard Park Food Fair on LatteBene Day Thursday October 1st. Thank you. September 2009 -- Thank you to Wolseley Mechanical Group for hosting a charity BBQ for Habitat. We appreciate your support. September 2009 -- Meghan Price, a UBC Okanagan student, is featured in this months' National newsletter for her advocacy work on behalf of Habitat. Meghan is now raising funds for Habitat in Guatemala You can read about Meghan and make a donation here: http://habitat.ca/topteenofcanadap3000.php “Buy a House, Build a Home.” Campaign -- From July 30 to August 30, customers of The Home Depot Canada stores across the country can buy a paper house for $2.00 at the check-out to show their support for the Home Depot’s charitable partners, including Habitat for Humanity Canada. For more information about this campaign and The Home Depot Canada Foundation, please visit www.homedepot.ca/foundation. June 2009 -- Thank you to all who attended the grand opening of our eightplex. June 2008 -- Thank you to Costco and Delta Grand Okanagan Hotel for providing and planting the trees and shrubs at the eight plex. We had a great day working with the partner families to beautify their new homes. April 2009 -- Congratulations to our Vernon Chapter for starting their first build project, "Under One Roof," in partnership with Kindale Developmental Association and the Vernon and District Community Land Trust. March 2009 -- HFH Kelowna is looking for property to build more homes for low-income working families. Please contact us if you know of suitable property in the Central Okanagan. “To keep our homes affordable for our partner families, we are mainly considering property that is zoned, or can be zoned, for multiple families,” explains Brigitte Reimer, Habitat chairperson. “We are searching in Kelowna, West Kelowna and Lake Country for a large lot that is close to schools and is near a bus route.” A generous property developer donated a building lot to Habitat in the past and Reimer is hopeful that someone will once again come forward. February 2009 -- SRI Homes has donated a large quantity of carpet and linoleum to HFH Kelowna. Thank you for your generous support! Manning Construction Management Services has donated the labour for a custom-built display panel for us. Thank you! January 2009 -- Thank you to Manning Construction Management Services for helping with the final inspection of our two latest homes.
December 2008 -- Happy New Year to all and thank you to our many generous donors, supporters and volunteers. Thanks to you, two families celebrated a very special Christmas as they become Habitat homeowners. |

We have just finished two homes in the Rutland area, our 16th and 17th homes to date and do not need construction volunteers at this time. There are many non-construction volunteer positions, such as serving on the Board of Directors, or liaison with our partner families. We particularly would like to talk with you if you enjoy doing fundraising!
