Home

Lafayette HFH is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.

Hammers

Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - "sweat equity" - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses.

News

We are currently working on 3 homes in the Beaux Chenes subdivision at I-49 and Gloria Switch Road. Four homes have been completed in Beaux Chenes, and the dedication of the most recent, Audrey Clement's house at 107 Gard Circle, will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 7. Thanks to all the Building on Faith volunteers and others who have been working throughout the month of September to frame and black-in our latest house at 300 Cantal Drive!Upcoming corporate workdays include Ocean Energy(their second in 2 months!)on Sept. 29, and the Oil Service Company workday on October 6. We'll be working every Saturday throughout the fall to complete all three Beaux Chenes homes by the end of the year. Come and join us!

Get Involved

Volunteers are welcome every Saturday! We begin work at 8 a.m. and usually wind up mid-afternoon. We sometimes schedule weekday projects as well. Call our office at (337) 261-5041 for more information. If you get the voice mail, press 3 for information about current construction projects (updated weekly).

We hold periodic meetings for Lafayette Parish residents interested in applying for a Habitat home. Call the LHFH office (261-5041) if you would like to be notified when the date for the next meeting is set (probably sometime in November).

Help us eliminate substandard housing in our community! It's quick, easy and safe to support the house-building, hope-building work of Lafayette HFH through Habitat for Humanity International's secure online donation system. You can even send a gift card announcing your donation in honor of a loved one or a special occasion.
