MCHH is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.
Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - "sweat equity" - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses.

We usually are not able to use your surplus building materials because of storage issues and the difficulty of trying to match or fit into our small floor plans. In order to keep usable products out of our landfill we suggest contacting the closest Habitat Restore or listing items on Craigslist or listing them on our local Freecycle site.

We are in desperate need of volunteers in all areas of our organization - from planning and fund raising through building.
Get Involved
Call our Habitat Office at 540-948-3200 if you want to volunteer or need additional information. Our Monthly Meetings are the first Tuesday of every month. We hold General Update Meetings, Committee Meetings and Board of Directors Meetings. Everyone is welcome. We meet at the Madison United Methodist Church on Main Street Madison at 7 PM.
