Home

HFH of Ottawa County is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.

Hammers

Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - "sweat equity" - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses.

News

We believe that homeownership empowers people to reach their full potential and contributes to stable families and stronger communities. Habitat for Humanity gives people the opportunity of becoming homeowners by building affordable, simple and quality homes.

As of August 2009, we have built and sold 18 homes. These homes are located at:
Port Clinton: seven homes
Oak Harbor: four homes
Graytown: one home
Genoa: one home
Elmore: two homes
Rocky Ridge: two homes
Marblehead: one home.

We are now planning our next build for Spring 2011. We are almost finished with our nineteenth home in Port Clinton.

Housing construction was possible through our donors and dedicated volunteers, including business and church groups.

Volunteering is one phone call away (419-734-7074). Join us in our efforts!
