Home

Habitat for Humanity of Saline County is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.

Hammers

Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - "sweat equity" - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses.

Would you like to become
a Habitat homeowner?

Habitat for Humanity of Saline County holds a county-wide application workshop the first Saturday of August each year. Information is presented about Habitat for Humanity, the application process, who can qualify for a home, what the requirements for a Habitat home are and other topics. Interested applicants have a chance to ask questions and meet some of our partner families. Forms are passed out and help available to fill out the applications. The application period for our 2007 homes is currently closed. The families for our 2007 homes have been selected from the August 2006 workshop. Partner families must be selected in advance, so they have adequate time to save for their closing costs and complete homeowner requirements.
