About
Macon County HFH is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.

Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - "sweat equity" - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses.

News
We will be building soon. We are very close to having the funds necessary to start construction. A recent gift of 18 undeveloped lots in Tuskegee's A.C. Bulls subdivision has us excited about the possibility of creating an entire Habitat community, but we are also seeking to expand our service area to places like Notasulga and Shorter. This should be a great year. Although we are still weeks away from swinging hammers, we need volunteers who are seeking to make a difference. Fund-raisers, site preparation, family support, planning, and hundreds of other opportunities are available to volunteers who want to further the mission of Habitat and its work in our community.

Our primary goal is to build homes and assist in eliminating poverty housing. You can help either through a donation of funds or of time and energy. While our greatest need is a base of financial support, there are many ways that an individual's time and resources could be put to use in our organization. We need volunteers that will not only help build homes, but serve to do the leg work (working committees) and develop the infrastructure of our Macon County affiliate so that we will be able to build at a greater rate. Consistent contributors and willing volunteers can help us move to a level of operation that will let us hire our first staff and greatly increase our level of homebuilding. You and your resources can make a great difference in our community. Contact Rev. K.G. Jones/President (334) 727-9946 to see how you can help. And, PLEASE be sure to specify MACON COUNTY HFH when you make contributions.

If you or someone you know is in need of decent, affordable housing, please e-mail us at pastorkg@bellsouth.net to receive information about the process of applying for Habitat home ownership.
