Become Habitat’s ambassador

Our supporters are the best promoters of the great work we are doing. Consider Ruth Anne Hamel, who went on a Global Village trip to Kyrgyzstan and then set on spreading the word about it once she was back home.

“As the holiday season approaches I wanted to put on my hat of Ambassador to Habitat Kyrgyzstan and try to promote the great work that is going on with Habitat in Bishkek,” says Ruth Anne Hamel, a Canadian expat in Budapest. Ruth Anne has been on a Global Village trip to Kyrgyzstan together with her daughter Jasmine.

“I had a table at our North American Holiday Bazaar here in Budapest to make people aware of the wonderful work that is going on in Kyrgyzstan, the great need of decent, affordable housing and how they can make a difference!

I was promoting the gift of giving--to give a donation in someone's name and then I had certificates that they could give them.”

Moreover, Ruth Anne gave a presentation to her daughter’s third-grade class, talking to children about poverty housing and what Habitat is doing to fight it. “It fit perfectly with the Rights and Responsibilities Unit of study and they really got it!! The study of ‘bad’ housing was most interesting and the teachers made a copy to have to use with their unit.  The children loved the work aprons of course!”
