Refugee Crisis in Europe: Macedonia | Emergency Appeal 2015

More than 520,000 refugees have made the perilous journey across the Mediterranean this year, fleeing turmoil and poverty in the Middle East (notably Syria) and Africa in search of a safe shelter in Europe. Habitat for Humanity works in several of the ‘migration route’ countries for those seeking refuge in Europe. These include Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Macedonia, Serbia and Hungary as well as destination countries such as Germany and the UK.

This document highlights planned Habitat Macedonia initiatives at both the Macedonia-Greece and Macedonia-Serbia borders to improve transit shelter conditions and sanitation in areas where the refugees are registered and have to wait.
