DIGH
The Dutch International Guarantees for Housing Foundation acts as an intermediary in the financing of affordable housing projects for people with low incomes in developing countries and countries in economic transition. By guaranteeing loan interest and principal repayments to their bank, DIGH aims to achieve a breakthrough in the area of low-income and public housing and to stimulate countries with a growth economy.
In cooperation with Dutch housing corporations and municipalities, DIGH loans are used to fund noncommercial, social housing projects. In Europe and Central Asia, partnering with Habitat DIGH has funded a number of projects, mobilizing $5.5 million and providing more than 800 loans to families in Romania, Bulgaria, Macedonia and Armenia.
