Please urge your representatives to fund programs supporting neighborhood revitalization TODAY! Homes around the country are still being foreclosed on at an alarming rate. Congress can help organizations like Habitat reclaim vacant properties and turn them into homes―but it takes resources to do the job right.
Tell your legislators: Fully fund the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act! Community service is worth the investment to help get our country back on track and to help Habitat build more homes with families in need. President Obama signed the Serve America Act into law, but Congress must provide the funding necessary to carry it out. Urge your elected leaders to fully fund the Serve America Act.
Ask Congress to support affordable housing legislation to help the world’s poor Today, 1 billion people live in slums, and that number is growing rapidly. The U.S. can be a leader in the fight to help reduce global poverty and improve the lives of people living in slums. Urge your legislators to support the Shelter, Land and Urban Assistance Act of 2009.
Tell Congress to save the National Housing Trust Fund and support the Capital Magnet Fund The economic crisis means more families need help. Habitat for Humanity is ready to help by building homes with low-income families in need. Along with the National Housing Trust Fund, Capital Magnet Fund grants would give Habitat vital resources to build more homes― homes our partner families need.
Ask President Obama keep making housing programs a priority In today's economic crisis, families looking for home loans are often left out in the cold. If our country makes a smart investment in vital affordable housing programs, more families will find adequate housing in these especially tough times.
