Expanding the National Service program

A part of Habitat’s Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative strategy includes an effort to significantly expand the National Service program.

President Obama signed the Serve America Act into law

With the stroke of a pen, President Obama made the Serve America Act a reality this past April. The Serve America Act would triple the size of AmeriCorps— and, in turn, could significantly boost the number of AmeriCorps members working with Habitat. Now, Congress must provide the funding necessary to carry it out. We need a surge of grassroots outreach to save this critical community service investment.

Congress must provide the funding to carry out the Serve America Act

The Serve America Act isn’t just a “feel good” program—it is an investment that will enrich our nation’s service programs like AmeriCorps and VISTA and transform the lives of those who serve. An eager new pool of service members will help Habitat build more homes with families and communities in need.
