Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity is a new financial, volunteer and advocacy alliance formed between Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and Habitat for Humanity International. This initiative includes four programs to help end poverty housing and help families achieve greater economic independence:

Lead a Thrivent Builds Worldwide trip!

Throughout the world, millions of families are living in substandard housing. You can help change their lives through the Thrivent Builds Worldwide program. There are two ways to help build a better world:

• Thrivent Builds Worldwide Communities: Build whole communities--and lifelong relationships with teammates and partner families. Thrivent Builds Worldwide Gulf Coast Community trips are available now. Other international communities will be available later in 2008.
• Thrivent Builds Worldwide Destination of Choice: Build a home where your heart and passion lead you! Trips are available to all locations with existing Habitat for Humanity Global Village programs.

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans members receive a discount on trip costs. A donation also will be made to the Habitat for Humanity host program on behalf of Thrivent Financial members who participate in a volunteer work trip. Thrivent Builds Programs:

Thrivent Builds Homes is a national program that joins the nearly 3 million Thrivent Financial members with Habitat for Humanity volunteers, other Lutherans, their families and their communities to build hundreds homes annually in the United States.

Thrivent Builds Worldwide is a program of short-term (one- to three-week) international and domestic working trips for individuals or groups to build Habitat houses in partnership with families facing critical housing needs.

Thrivent Builds Neighborhoods seeks to be a catalyst for neighborhood transformation by distributing several multi-year grants to coalitions of community organizations for planning and implementing systematic and sustainable improvements in a specific neighborhood so that its inhabitants would experience a higher quality of life.

Thrivent Builds Mobile is a one-of-a-kind mobile multimedia exhibit designed to help Americans experience — if only for a few minutes — what it means to live in substandard housing. It is a 48-foot semitrailer that will enable visitors to experience substandard housing up close and learn what they can do to address this problem that affects more than 30 million American families.
