Travel with a volunteer team to Jordan toerve a family by helping build their house and explore Middle Eastern history and culture inside the most stable country in the region.
You’ll meet the family and see the difference you’re making with your time, sweat and resources. Habitat Jordan carefully selects a partner family to ensure that this house will be a sustainable solution. Their goal is to end poverty housing in Jordan.
• Friday, day 1: North American volunteers depart.
• Saturday, day 2: Arrive in Amman. Habitat for Humanity picks you up at the airport, then meet your team for dinner.
• Sunday, day 3: Travel to the affiliate community, where Habitat staff will share about our work building community impact in Jordan. We will also brief the team on your project.
• Monday-Thursday, days 4-7: Build on the work site, with free time and cultural activities in the evenings.
• Friday, day 8: Build, enjoy a closing ceremony, and travel back to Amman. Your journey in the Middle East may continue independently, or you may depart for home.
Global Village sends volunteers to build with Habitat for Humanity projects across the world. Get your hands dirty on the worksite, meet the families whose housing situation you are improving, experience the country like an insider and do it all alongside a team of like-minded volunteers. No experience required! This build is your next step with Habitat to make the world a better place.
Your cost includes an important contribution to Habitat for Humanity. It helps fund this project and keeps us building around the world. For more details about what is included, visit Global Village program cost.
Meals and accommodations
In Amman teams stay in double-occupancy rooms in a modest, comfortable hotel. Near the work site, the team stays in guesthouses with separate communal sleeping for men and women. At dinner, try traditional Jordanian dishes or cook as a group with food you buy at the market.
Tasks on the work site
Sifting sand, mixing cement, hauling blocks, bricklaying, painting and plastering, and other tasks assigned by the expert construction crew. We use locally available building materials so that the project is economically and ecologically responsible.

Have questions? Ready to join? Mandy Jansen will lead this team in the field and would love to speak with you.
Mandy’s favorite Global Village memory: “The home dedication ceremony for 17 families with new homes in Mozambique. These people had the fewest material possessions of any families I’d ever worked with, but they had such a high capacity to show love and appreciation for what they did have. It was quite a celebration of singing, dancing, and love that I will not soon forget.”
