Jon and Bobbi’s favorite GV stories:

Jon Slock: I’ve been on three Global Village trips. Each time I’ve worked hard, slept well, laughed loud and shed a few tears. I’ve savored making friends with both fellow trip attendees as well as with members of the communities I’ve visited. I’m really just a big kid, and so I love playing - an impromptu soccer match after a day on the worksite in Costa Rica, or dancing with the villagers on a lunch break in Mozambique. Each trip gets better and better, and I’m excited by the opportunity to help provide that experience to others as a trip leader.

Bobbi Higgins: The thing I love most about Habitat Global Village trips is the people. I love working with the families and community in the host country, learning about their culture and seeing how Habitat changes lives, one housing solution at a time. One of my most memorable moments was when the entire village in which we were building threw a party for our team of volunteers. We danced, sang karaoke and celebrated the growth taking place in the community. Some children in the community demonstrated the typical style of dance and even got us to participate in some traditional dances! Global Village trips give me the opportunity to see the world and learn about others in a way I never could traveling on my own.
