Planning Your Visit to the Global Village & Discovery Center

For groups of 10 or more, please Book a Tour two weeks in advance, if possible.

The Global Village & Discovery Center offers a unique way to travel the world and learn about how Habitat for Humanity International works in partnership with families everywhere to eliminate poverty housing—all without leaving beautiful Southwest Georgia.

The six-acre Village opened in 2003 and is increasingly popular for school field trips, Scouts, youth groups, senior group travelers and tour planners.

Habitat’s Global Village & Discovery Center is a valued addition to the rich cultural and historical attractions of Southwest Georgia. Within 10 miles of Americus are President Jimmy Carter’s home and museum in Plains, his boyhood farm in Archery, the Andersonville National Historic Site and National Prisoner of War Museum, as well as many homes, hotels, churches and other buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. The village is also a stop on the SAM Shortline excursion train route from Cordele to Plains. For other area attractions, lodging, restaurants and shopping venues, please visit The Real Georgia.com.

The village is open for tours Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (March through November)
