Global Village & Youth Leadership Conference -- Habitat for Humanity Int'l 1

Global Village & Youth Leadership Conference

Thank you for attending!

GVYLC 2009: “Educate. Activate. Advocate.”, held October 16–18 in Chicago, Illinois at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare, was a huge success! Thanks to all of our attendees, presenters, exhibitors and State Farm Insurance, the underwriter of the conference and national corporate sponsor of Habitat’s youth programs.

More than 380 Habitat leaders gathered to develop new skills and learn more about Habitat for Humanity’s work. Highlights included:

  • An inspiring keynote about leadership and the future of Habitat by Jonathan Reckford, Chief Executive Officer of Habitat for Humanity International
  • Dozens of workshops that offered attendees new tools and ideas to help eliminate poverty housing on their campuses, in their communities and around the world.
  • Evening activities, including a Building Challenge, trivia event, and moving stories shared by Habitat volunteers.
  • A plenary address about the importance of advocating for affordable housing by Jose Quinonez from HFHI’s Government Relations and Advocacy department.
  • The 2009 Celebration Dinner to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of supporters of Habitat’s Global Village and Youth Programs, including State Farm Matching Grant and Build Louder award winners.
