•. Ask your employer if the company provides child care services.
• Ask your employer for help in determining if you qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or the Advance Earned Income Tax Credit.
• Ask your employer if the company participates in any IDA programs and to help determine if you qualify.
• Ask your employer if the company offers a retirement savings plan. If such a plan is offered, ask your employer to explain it to you—and explain how you can sign up. Understand that contributions to a retirement plan will reduce your take-home pay. But, your contributions grow in an investment account, tax free. These plans are a great way to save money for your retirement.
• Make a list of action items you’ll do to look for a better-paying job. Turn these action items into SMART goals and get closer to earning more money.
