Finding a Good Job
Continue Your Success

Adelle is ready for a change. She was a nurse’s aide for 15 years. Bored and burned out, she took some time off to care for some sick family members, but they don’t need her services any more. Adelle is tired of caring for other people and doesn’t want to go back to work as a nurse’s aide. She wants to do something new and earn more money. Her friend James has qualified for a Habitat home. That news got her excited to begin working toward homeownership. Adelle knows that earning more money has to be a part of achieving the goal of owning a home.

Help point Adelle in a new direction. She has excellent qualifications as a nurse’s aide, and she had been a reliable employee for 15 years.

Looking at the list of Where the Jobs Are, make a list for Adelle of other jobs related to a nurse’s aide that she might qualify for.

Using the Occupational Outlook Handbook, research how much money a nurse’s aide makes. Then research the salaries of jobs you think Adelle might be qualified for.

If you were Adelle, what course would you take?

What SMART goals would you write?
