Can I get assistance with paying for my utilities?

Can I get assistance with paying for my utilities?
Some states offer assistance with your utility bills, based on your income. Following are some resources to help you find out if your state offers a program and if you would qualify.
Low-Income Home Energy Assistant Program LIHEAP): This federally funded program assists low-income homeowners with their energy bills. These include your electricity and gas bills for heating and cooling your home. Click here for LIHEAP programs and contact information by state.
National Energy Assistance Referral (NEAR): This is a free service for finding out where to apply for a Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). To contact NEAR, call 1-866-674-6327 for referral to an energy assistance program in your state. You can also inquire about LIHEAP programs in your state by contacting NEAR by e-mail. Send an e-mail to energyassistance@ncat.org; include your city, county, and state in your message.
