Description

The Resource Development director is responsible for increasing the capacity for Habitat for Humanity of Saline County through fund development, marketing and communication programs. Initiatives include cultivating new and existing donors, including individuals, corporations and foundations. The RDD will plan and implement all fundraising strategies, including but not limited to appeals, sponsorships, grants and special events. In addition, the RDD will ensure compliance with all funding requirements established by all donors, foundations, institutions and government entities.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements the short- and long-term fundraising plans to meet the operating and program needs of the organization.
  • Plans, implements and evaluates all donor appeals to ensure retention of existing donors and cultivation of new donors.
  • Researches, identifies and engages major donors, maintaining ongoing relationships and encouraging long-term support of Habitat for Humanity’s mission. Coordinates donor-related activities and recognition with other departments as necessary.
  • Identifies, writes and monitors grants for the affiliate. Ensures that all compliance requirements are met and that all reporting is accurate and timely.
  • Leverages established relationships with donors, volunteers, board members and colleagues to cultivate new sources of support.
  • Solicits donors for in-kind support including building materials, office supplies and administrative and professional services.
  • Provides leadership to all fundraising events and activities and supports the fundraising components of other departmental programs such as the volunteer and donor appreciation dinner, house dedications and other volunteer, homeowner and donor recognition events.
  • Ensures that the donor database information is current and accurate. Provides for analysis of all reporting associated with fundraising efforts.
  • Ensures that all donors are appropriately recognized in a timely fashion.
  • Provides income and expense projections for all development-related programs for inclusion in the organizational budget.
  • Represents the organization on evenings and weekends as required for fundraising contacts.
  • Serves as staff lead for development committee and participates in meetings and operations as needed.
  • Ensures updated promotional materials, such as collateral materials, marketing materials, PR materials, Web site and other forms of communication to educate and motivate potential volunteers and donors to support the affiliate.
  • As requested by the executive director, serves as an organizational spokesperson to the media and or potential donor groups.

  • Provides and receives constructive feedback.
  • Minimum education of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum experience of two years in fundraising for nonprofit organizations.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, database software, e-communications and Web site design and management.
  • Experience in supervising others or leading a team.
  • Experience in motivating and coaching volunteers.
