Reports to: President
Status: Full-time/salary/exempt

Position Summary: Reporting directly to the President, the CCD manager leads DC Habitat for Humanity’s communications plan that builds DC Habitat’s brand and educates the public about DC Habitat’s work. The manager coordinates all Web, print and social media communications, including the creation of brochures and storyboards. In addition, this position also supports the Development director and the Government Financing and Community Development Task Force Teams to assist in messaging grants, proposals and RFPs that advance DC Habitat’s mission. The manager shares a VISTA employee with the director of Development, and the three of them, along with key community volunteers, also manage all special event activities for the affiliate.
Responsibilities
- Manage the organization’s public relations, communications and marketing strategies and operations.
- Work with individual departments to produce their communications materials in order to convey a consistent message and image.
- Message data that is collected regarding affordable housing needs and DC Habitat’s impact, creating brochures, etc. as requested.
- Manage special community events such as Home Dedication Ceremonies and Faith Build Events, as well as appearances by dignitaries.
- Mobilize and coordinate Public Relations and Government Financing/Community Development Task Forces and Committees for event purposes.
- Create annual reports, proposals, RFPs, brochures, storyboards, etc. to support affiliate activities.
- Recruit the assistance of pro-bono specialists for community development projects.
- Oversee maintenance of media contact lists and promote media exposure of DC Habitat.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Training or proven track-record in communications or public and media relations.
- Experience and skill with managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience managing a team comprised of various personalities and skill sets.
- Experience working with a housing organization in urban planning is preferred.
- Understanding and ability to utilize social media tools.
- Experience working with or for Habitat for Humanity a plus.
