Please Help Us Help Them

Within days of the Dec. 26 tsunami that killed thousands and displaced about 2 million, Habitat for Humanity was assessing and meeting one the most urgent needs: decent shelter. Because of the disaster's scope, your support is vital as we continue to rebuild homes and lives. Any gift you make today will help those rebuilding efforts.

Scattered and damaged belongings are all that remain of some families' homes and lives.
As early as January, Habitat began its first phase response: launching an effort to build more than 25,000 permanent one-room structures in India, Thailand, Indonesia and Sri Lanka. Each costing an estimated US$1,000, these "core houses" allow families to move from unsanitary, dangerous tent camps into more secure, stable housing. The homes are built with local materials and labor, offering not only a decent place to sleep, but also meaningful work for people desperately seeking a measure of hope.

Please help us help them. You can use the envelope enclosed in this package, or visit www.habitat.org to donate securely online. Thank you for your concern and for your support.
