In 2001, the Cambodian squatter community where Thun Yamm lived was engulfed by fire; more than 1,000 houses - including Yamm's - were destroyed. The 58-year-old now lives in this new Habitat house with her extended family. What Habitat helped provide for Yamm's family goes well beyond the actual structure of their house: Local doctors had struggled for some time to successfully treat two of her ailing grandchildren. On site for a day build with his son and daughter earlier this year, Habitat volunteer and Phnom Penh resident Dr. Tim Benedum diagnosed the boys' tuberculosis and prescribed them the medicine they needed.
