The Making of a Home

At first glance, the home of Juan Bonifacio, Herodía Reyes and their daughters looks very similar to the hundreds of thousands of other wood and metal homes that jam the landscape of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Upon closer inspection, it’s clear the key to their future lies in their backyard.

For months, this family has been buying cinderblock and rebar and storing it behind their house. With the materials they’ve gathered, this family will work with Habitat for Humanity Dominican Republic to make as many improvements to their home as funding and materials will allow. This method helps more people realize the hope of a decent home.
