![]() 'I've always strived for my own home. It would make my son's and my life a lot easier. With the help and support of many good people, willing to give their time and energy to help better someone else's life, my dream is coming true.' A Step in the Right Direction Soon-to-be Habitat homeowner Denise Murray carries her son Eddie upstairs to their second-story apartment. Eddie cannot walk and is confined to a wheelchair, making steps difficult, at best, to negotiate. Unfortunately, this chore has been a familiar reality for the Murray family--but thanks to her partnership with Metropolitan Camden Habitat for Humanity, progress is under way. Denise is partnering with the affiliate to build a single-story, handicapped-accessible house, complete with a ramp to the front door, a roll-in shower and other features that will make life easier for her family. Construction began in January, and the Murrays expect to move in this summer. |
