Construyendo viviendas y creando
esperanza con éxito

Nuestros devotos socios han estado construyendo fielmente viviendas de Hábitat para la Humanidad en la región de América Latina y el Caribe durante cerca de 25 años. Este año la región de América Latina y el Caribe ha superado la marca de las 50.000 casas construidas con familias necesitadas. Además el buen trabajo que se hace en esta región es solo parte de un movimiento mundial que manifiesta el amor de Dios por toda Europa y Asia Central; África y Oriente Medio; Asia y el Pacífico y Norteamérica.

Yo tuve el privilegio de sembrar la semilla de la misión de Hábitat en esta área en 1979, cuando visité Guatemala por primera vez y presenté el concepto de Hábitat a la gente de allí.

Desde aquel momento, la labor de Hábitat se ha esparcido a todos los países de Centroamérica, a todos los países de Sudamérica excepto Suriname, Guyana Francesa y Uruguay y a muchas naciones del Caribe.

En el año 2004, el Proyecto Jimmy Carter viajará a México, donde en octubre se construirán 150 viviendas en una semana. Ese evento captará la atención sobre la labor de Hábitat no solo en México sino por toda la región.
El futuro parece brillante. Se han puesto cimientos firmes. El amor de Dios brilla a medida que cada vez más familias se mudan desde las casas precarias a las viviendas de Hábitat, que son modestas pero buenas.

Dios nos ha llamado a esta humilde aventura de demostrar su amor con los martillos. Ojalá que nos mantengamos fieles y fructíferos en los meses y años que vienen mientras continuamos proclamando el amor de Dios de palabra y obra mediante la misión de Hábitat.

Faithfully Building Houses and Hope, by Millard Fuller

Dedicated partners have been faithfully building Habitat for Humanity houses in the Latin America/Caribbean region for nearly 25 years. This year, the Latin America/Caribbean region passed the 50,000-house mark in houses built with families in need. And the good work being done in this region is just part of a worldwide movement manifesting God’s love throughout Europe/Central Asia, Africa/Middle East, Asia/Pacific and North America.

I had the privilege of planting the seed for Habitat’s ministry in the area in 1979, when I visited Guatemala and introduced the concept of Habitat to people there. Since that time, Habitat’s work has spread to every country in Central America; to all countries in South America except Suriname, French Guiana and Uruguay; and to many nations in the Caribbean.

The future looks bright. God’s love shines as more families move from pitiful hovels into modest, but good Habitat houses. God has called us to this humble venture of hammering out His love. May we remain faithful and fruitful in the months and years ahead as we continue to proclaim God’s love in word and deed through the Habitat ministry.
