        Country profile
Panamá -- Habitat for Humanity Int'l 1

After receiving initial approval in November of 2002, Habitat for Humanity Panama was established on June 9, 2003. Officially, their work in the community began in 2004. Now Habitat Panama has grown to supporting the development of two communities.

The goal of Habitat Panama is to respond to the needs of families with limited resources. Majority of the families served earn a subsistence wage and do not have access to the traditional credit system of their local bank. Habitat Panama is a self-sufficient foundation and enjoys having a series of activities and agreements in place to support their building goals.

*Number of new families served includes families benefiting from new houses, rehabilitations, repairs, and technical, finance and other services in the year to June 30.
