Chile — Resource Development Coordinator

: 6–12 months, beginning as soon as possible.

Assignment summary

Reporting to the head of resource development, the volunteer will be responsible for assisting the operations of HFH Chile´s Resource Development department. Specific duties include promoting the cause to local and international groups and companies, planning fundraising events, managing documentation and informational databases, preparing promotional materials, responding to correspondence and telephone inquiries, collecting and investigating information for the elaboration of documents and providing logistical support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide innovative ideas for designing a system for national and international fundraising for house improvements, individual houses and housing projects.
  • Create and maintain an electronic database of Habitat donors using E-Tapestry.
  • Organize fundraising events, including annual formal dinner.
  • Maintain and expand HFH Chile´s network of contacts through meetings and presentations.
  • Coordinate with the Communications department in the design and production of marketing materials for HFH Chile.
  • Help design and utilize a communications system with Habitat regional offices so information that may be useful for fundraising purposes is more effective.
  • Complete other tasks and assignments related to fundraising efforts as requested by the head of Resource Development.


Requirements

  • Advanced/intermediate English and Spanish, both written and oral.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent people skills.
  • Ability to solve problems and think creatively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft programs (i.e., Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Internet usage. Experience with Adobe Design Suite a plus.
  • Experience working in multicultural environments is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work across a broad spectrum of private, corporate, religious, government and nonprofit organizations.


Support from the host organization

Due to limited access to computers in the national office, the volunteer is encouraged to bring a personal laptop. Volunteers will be responsible for the purchase of a Chilean cell phone or SIM card. Work-related expenses will be covered. Private rooms are available in the Habitat Chile volunteer´s apartment at no cost; volunteers choosing to locate their own housing will be responsible for all costs.

MedEx Insurance
Within 30 days of departure, the volunteer must confirm the purchase of MedEx insurance for term of service. Depending on the plan selected and age of volunteer, a price estimate is provided. Please visit the MedEx Web site to verify details.

*A volunteer staying for more than three months may apply for a visa of temporary residency, or leave the country every 90 days to renew his or her tourist visa. Volunteers interested in acquiring a visa must contact the nearest Chilean consulate for specific information regarding visas, type required, length of stay and how an extension is granted.
