Assignment summary

External funding is critical for sustaining Habitat for Humanity Jordan’s operations. Donors come from various walks of life, and consequently, this position requires the ability to interact with a range of donors from the public and private sector organizations and various nongovernmental organizations.

The volunteer will report to the national director. The volunteer needs to be flexible in order to grasp the nuances of Jordan’s unique program.

Responsibilities

Resource development

  • Formulate, implement and monitor a comprehensive resource development plan, under the policy guidelines directed by HFH Jordan, to be carried out by the HFH Jordan national office.
  • Identify and liaise with key contacts in target corporations, foundations, NGOs and other civil society institutions, as well as government and public sector entities.
  • Facilitate effective coordination of fundraising efforts between HFH Jordan national office and affiliates.
  • Communicate with current and prospective donors to raise funds for Habitat projects in various locations.
  • Run reports to analyze donor trends and projections.
  • Help establish partnership policies with donors and other agencies.
  • Help accomplish HFH Jordan’s fundraising goals.
  • Maintain the standard operating procedures set by Habitat for Humanity International for the proper administration and execution of funds raised.
  • Prepare quarterly work plans based on the overall resource development strategy.

Communications

  • Collect and edit program updates and homeowner stories for program development.
  • Assist in preparing presentations and materials for fundraising efforts.
  • Provide updates to the area office for publications.
  • Design and produce stakeholder reports quarterly.

Requirements
Experience with resource development, management and cross-cultural communication; strong coordination skills; good communication and interpersonal abilities with a variety of audiences; ability to incorporate feedback from colleagues and supervisors; four-year college degree in business administration or relevant field; experience with Microsoft Office software.

Due to housing availability, this position is not suitable for families.

Support from the host organization

Rent for an apartment will be provided. Work-related hardware, including a laptop, office space, work-related transportation and necessary documents for residential and work visas will be provided.

Volunteer budget

Apart from the support given by the host organization, the volunteer will be responsible for all other costs associated with living in the host country.
