JCWP 2007 Application Information

Join former President Jimmy Carter, his wife Rosalynn, Habitat for Humanity CEO Jonathan Reckford and volunteers from all over the world in building and repairing homes in the greater Los Angeles area from Oct. 28 to Nov. 2, 2007.

More than 1.7 million people live in poverty in Los Angeles County. During this weeklong build, volunteers will work side by side with 30 new Habitat for Humanity partner families to complete their homes. In addition, 70 current low-income homeowners in the surrounding areas will be helped as part of a Habitat for Humanity renovation program called A Brush with Kindness which will improve their housing conditions as well as the quality of life for the whole community.

Please keep the following in mind when considering this application:

  • Please read the Release and Waiver of Liability thoroughly. You will be required to sign a copy of this form at registration.
  • Participants must be 18 years of age or older.
  • If you are applying with a group, please choose the type of group (Event Sponsor, Event Host or HFHI Staff) and the group name (company name, committee or staff division) from the dropdown lists on the application.
  • Please add jcwp@habitat.org to your e-mail address book to ensure future communication is not blocked by your e-mail provider.

Out-of-town applicants:

  • Lodging will be provided beginning Sunday, Oct. 28, through Friday, Nov. 2, in selected hotels.
  • Transportation will be provided from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Habitat-provided lodging Sunday, Oct. 28, and return transportation will be provided from Habitat-provided lodging to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) Saturday, Nov. 3. Local transportation will be provided daily from Habitat-provided lodging (hotels) to and from the build site.
  • Meals will be provided beginning with dinner on Sunday, Oct. 28. Three meals a day and snacks will be provided Monday, Oct. 29, through Friday, Nov. 2.

Local applicants:

  • Meals will be provided beginning with dinner on Sunday, Oct. 28. Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided Monday, Oct. 29, through Friday, Nov. 2.
  • Local ground transportation will be provided from a designated parking area to the build site each day.
