Foundation Relations Officer

Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is seeking a talented professional for the role of Foundation Relations Officer. Reporting to the Director, Foundation Relations, this position is responsible for the implementation of the fundraising strategy to secure new and renewed grant funding in support of HFHI's mission. This individual will work closely with the Director and HFHI stakeholders (Resource Development, Program Officers, others) to maximize fundraising opportunities and leverage funding primarily through large, private, U.S.-based foundations to meet HFHI fiscal revenue goals. This position will be based at HFHI's Administrative Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia.
1. Donor Development (40%)
-In collaboration with Director, develop pipeline of qualified foundation prospects; analyze each grantor’s program interests, grant procedures and past charitable donations to develop comprehensive solicitation plans.
-Build and maintain effective working relationships with assigned prospects through thoughtful cultivation and stewardship (face-to-face meetings, correspondence, phone contact); collaborate with HFHI program experts to educate and inform foundation officers of HFHI program work and strategic plan progress.
-Prepare briefing memos and other informational materials that assist senior HFHI leadership with donor enagement.
-Maintain accurate, detailed records of donor engagement in master HFHI prospect management database (BBEC).
2. Grant development (40%)
- In collaboration with Director, program staff and other HFHI stakeholders, identify appropriate funding opportunities and serve as lead writer to develop compelling grant proposals, concept papers, letters of inquiry, reports and acklowledgement letters for foundation donors.
-Ensure that all written materials best reflect HFHI's programmatic work, its brand and strategic vision while aligning with funder's interests.
3. Reporting (10%)
-Monitor grant reporting deadlines and work closely with HFHI stakeholders to ensure reporting requirements are met and are in full compliance with the foundation's reporting standards; work closely with HFHI finance and legal departments to ensure grant agreements, acknowledgements and payments are processed in a timely and accurate fashion.
4. Education (5%)
- Serve as SME; educate Resource Development colleagues and HFHI program partners on industry trends and insights; provide final grants and proposals to Resource Development team as shared resource.
5. Other projects as assigned. (5%)
-Minimum 3+ years related experience.
-Programatic and development experience in securing complex, six-and seven-figure multiyear grants preferably with the top funders in the housing/shelter, community development, and international affairs/human services sectors.
-Expertise in Internet research, specifically gathering and analyzing foundation grant programs, areas of concentration and grant guidelines/requirements, grant writing and budget development.
-Outstanding oral and written communication skills with excellent interpersonal, presentation and negotiation skills.
-Solutions-oriented and highly collaborative.
-Self-motivated and disciplined; must perform well under pressure and be able to complete multiple projects concurrently/balance competing priorities; ability to meet deadlines.
-Excellent organizational skills with outstanding attention to detail.
-Commitment to delivering excellent internal and external customer service.
-Computer literate; able to use word-processing, spreadsheet, database and project software.
-Working knowledge of BBEC and Team Approach preferred.
-Knowledge of Habitat's Worldwide mission preferred.
-AFP/CFRE Certification preferred.
