Christmas in action
December 6, 2008
EL SALVADOR—For the eighth year running, Habitat for Humanity El Salvador will host the event, “Christmas in action” (Navidad en acción). During the first week in December, local and international volunteers, businesses, churches and schools, in partnership with Salvadorian families of scarce financial resources, will put their hands to work to build adequate homes in time for the holidays.
Throughout the last eight years of the event, 93 families have experienced the joy of Christmas within the walls of a new home. This opportunity would not have been possible without the support of the over 2,000 volunteers who have given of their time, enthusiasm, resources and solidarity. These are the actions that will transform our world into a home—especially for the holidays. Each resulting change is the fruit of an extraordinary mission, where hearts, minds and hands unite to serve others.
This year, 250 local volunteers from El Salvador, have joined hands with 12 volunteers from Canada, as well as Salvadorian families, together building five new homes for Christmas.
