25th ANNIVERSARY EVENT

Habitat for Humanity celebrated its 25th anniversary in September 2001. Volunteers and staff gathered in Indianapolis, Ind., U.S.A., to celebrate the accomplishments of 25 years of building and to prepare for the work ahead.

Highlights included entertainment, workshops and the Global Leaders Conference, in which representatives from countries Habitat is building in gathered to discuss successes, challenges and innovations. A blitz build also took place, resulting in the completion of twenty-five Habitat houses in Indianapolis.

Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and Habitat founder and president Millard Fuller were present to support the event, and both helped to lead the thoughtful, heartfelt closing ceremonies.
