Habitat Youth Leadership Conference: Scholarship deadline Sept. 1
We want to make attending this year’s Youth Leadership Conference & Young Leaders Summit as easy as possible. Apply for one of our 90 registration scholarships to help with your group’s costs.
This year’s conference will be held Nov. 7-9 in Charlotte, N.C., and will feature workshops on fundraising, advocacy, education and younger youth engagement.

This year’s conference will also have an added focus on young professionals and inspiring youth engagement beyond collegiate years. This annual conference is open to all youth, affiliate staff and volunteers interested in engaging Millennials in Habitat’s efforts to eliminate poverty housing.

Conference information — including registration costs, scholarship opportunities and workshop requests for proposals — is available at habitat.org/ylc. Early-bird registration rates are available through Sept. 20.

Affiliates: Host Collegiate Challenge teams this season!
Collegiate Challenge is Habitat for Humanity International’s year-round student alternative break program. Each Collegiate Challenge team provides essential resources to your affiliate, including:

  • Donations: Each participant brings an average $150 donation.
  • Recruitment: You can use these groups as opportunity to recruit future AmeriCorps members and staff for your affiliate.
  • Project cultivation: Participants can also help with Neighborhood Revitalization, rehab, deconstruction, A Brush with Kindness and weatherization projects.

Directions on how to register, as well as information about hosting responsibilities and requirements, can be found on my.habitat. Email [email protected] for more details.

Other ways to get involved

Thanksgiving in August: Tell lawmakers ‘thank you’ for supporting Habitat
At last count, 92 lawmakers in the U.S. House of Representatives were co-sponsoring the Water for the World Act (H.R. 2901). If your Representative is among them, take a moment during this August recess, when lawmakers are home from Washington, D.C., to say “thank you.” If your representative isn’t on the list, thank him or her for considering co-sponsoring, either in person, over the phone or by using our easy online form. From all of us at Habitat for Humanity, thank you for joining us in advocating to end poverty housing.
