State Farm matching grants now available
No excuses; make that Habitat project happen. This year State Farm and Habitat have partnered to offer matching grants for Youth United and campus chapters, as well as a disaster services grant for student groups and affiliates.

All participating groups or affiliates must be in good standing with Habitat Youth Programs to be eligible. Apply today!

Youth United advocacy involves whole community
Does your advocacy strategy include even your affiliate construction team? Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County, North Carolina shares their tips on how building awareness in their community involves everyone. Read about it in the latest Youth United Best Practices Bulletin.

Save the Date: Young leaders will collaborate, network in Charlotte, N.C.
The Youth Leadership Conference will be held Nov. 7-9 in Charlotte, N.C.
This year’s conference will also feature the first Young Leaders Summit as our youth engagement teams seeks to inspire service beyond collegiate years. This annual conference is open to all youth, affiliate staff and volunteers interested engaging millennials in Habitat’s mission and efforts to eliminate poverty housing.

Conference information, including registration costs, scholarship opportunities and workshop requests for proposals will be posted in late spring. Join our Youth Leadership Conference Facebook group for the most up-to-date information on this event.

Continue advocacy beyond Act! Speak! Build! Week
More than 125 groups participated in the year’s youth advocacy week April 6-12. Through our collective efforts, more than 75 messages of support were sent to your Congressional delegation to support  S. 2052. The U.S. Senate bill would allow nonprofits like Habitat for Humanity to apply for weatherization grants through the Department of Energy. About 30 million families could save $250-450 each month through grant services.

You can still join our advocacy efforts to support this bill. Here’s how:

  • Visit our SoundOff site and enter your U.S. zip code to tweet a message of support to your elected officials.
  • Share the tweet or Facebook post with your social network.
  • Continue to promote affordable housing for all with the #asbw2014, #advocacy and #supportshelter hashtags.

Need an advocacy primer? We have that, too! Head to Habitat.org where Theo will explain why advocacy is so important to Habitat’s mission.

Campus chapter annual reports due May 31
All campus chapters are required to submit an annual report to Habitat for Humanity International each spring. This annual report is how our team keeps track of the great work you’re doing to eliminate poverty housing. Visit Habitat.org/youthprograms to submit your online report and to download a user guide on submitting a report. Campus chapters can also access campus chapter requirements on My.Habitat. Call 1-800-422-4828, ext. 2412, or email [email protected] with any questions.
