Steve Thomas celebrates Habitat's 500,000th house in Kenya
In commemoration of Habitat for Humanity's 500,000th house built worldwide, the milestone was dedicated in Maai Mahiu, Kenya. The house has been built in partnership with Leah Wairimu Ngugi, 52, and her grandchildren Jane, 17, and Joseph, 14, Ngugi. Forcibly displaced during Kenya's 2007 post-election violence, the family has been living in tents since for roughly three years. Board members and volunteers from Paterson Habitat in New Jersey, a long time tithe partner of Habitat Kenya, traveled to Kenya to help complete Leah's family's house and begin work on her neighbor's house.
