Lyle Hanna Elected Vice-Chair Of International Board

Americus, Ga.- November, 9 2002 - Lyle Hanna of Lexington, Ky., has been elected vice-chair of the all-volunteer board of directors of Habitat for Humanity International, the world’s largest nonprofit home-building organization. Lyle Hanna was chosen from a group of more than two-dozen board members who give of their time to oversee the housing ministry’s mission in the United States and throughout the world.

“Lyle Hanna has been serving God by helping to build homes and hope for many years,” said Millard Fuller, founder and president of Habitat for Humanity International. “As vice-chairman of our International Board of Directors, he will lead this ministry toward the total elimination of poverty housing worldwide.”

Hanna, a principal at William M. Mercer, is a 15-year veteran of Habitat’s campaign to provide affordable, adequate housing for families in need. As a member of the HFHI board, Hanna was chairman of Habitat for Humanity International’s 25th Anniversary Celebration, coordinating celebration events around the world culminating in a global event in Indianapolis, Ind. He has helped to found more than ten Habitat affiliates, coordinating the first-ever weeklong 15-house build without the assistance of former President Jimmy Carter.

Hanna is working in the human resources field, providing strategies for employers in developing management and compensation plans. “Having the opportunity to serve Habitat for Humanity is a gift from God,” Hanna said. His commitment to fellow board members is, “To develop a world-class human resource system. This will be achieved by establishing an advisory committee of senior HR professionals with global experience to serve at their own expense and provide much-needed resources to our expanding organizations.”

Hanna will serve a two-year term as vice-chairman. Members of the HFHI board receive no compensation for their voluntary service.

Celebrating its 25th Anniversary year, Habitat for Humanity International is an ecumenical Christian ministry dedicated to eliminating poverty housing. Founded by Millard Fuller, along with his wife, Linda, Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliates in more than 2,000 communities in 83 nations have built and sold more than 100,000 homes to partner families with no-profit, zero-interest mortgages.
