What: U.S. Senators Build a Habitat for Humanity House w/ Habitat staff, homeowners and volunteers

Where: 509 and 515 Mentor Avenue Capitol Heights, Maryland
On March 7, U.S. Senators from both sides of the aisle will build and raise the walls on two Habitat for Humanity houses near the U.S. Capitol. The "U.S. Senators Build" is the first in a nationwide series of home-building projects for members of the Senate. Senators, homeowners and building partners will work for two hours to complete the walls for two houses. Senate spouses will also participate.
These Senators have confirmed their participation in the event as of Feb. 23.

Senators, homeowners, other volunteers and media begin registration on site.
8:30 Welcoming Remarks
9:00 Construction Begins
Senators will join volunteers to begin work at the Senators Build site.
10:50 Group Photo
Senators and their spouses, building partners and homeowner families will take a group photo in front of the house under construction.
11:00 - 11:30 SPECIAL EVENT "Wall Raising" "Passing of the Hammers"
12:15 - 2:30 Senators' Spouses Build Senators' spouses, along with Habitat for Humanity volunteers, homeowners, corporate sponsors, HFH leadership and staff, will continue the construction.
Driving directions to the U.S. Senators Build from the U.S. Capitol (driving time is approx. 15 min.):
Travel east on E. Capitol, passing I-295, Minnesota Avenue, and Benning Rd.
Just past 49th Street, turn right onto Central Avenue.
Go through the first stoplight at Southern, and take a right at the next light onto Larchmont.
The road will immediately Y, stay left on Larchmont at this Y intersection.
Take the first left onto Cumberland (directly across from Holy Cross Church).
Go one block, at the first left (top of the hill), turn onto Mentor. The houses are at the end of the road.
