Habitat For Humanity International Names Barbara T. Alexander to Board of Directors

AMERICUS, Ga., Feb. 19, 2003 — Barbara T. Alexander, a senior advisor to UBS Warburg, has been elected to Habitat for Humanity International’s Board of Directors. Alexander was chosen to become a part of the 31-member board, which oversees the organization’s mission of building simple, decent housing in partnership with people in need throughout the world.

“After 30 years’ work in various aspects of the housing industry, I am excited about the chance to participate as a member of the board of directors of Habitat for Humanity International to further that extraordinary organization’s objectives of providing all families with safe, adequate, affordable homes,” said Alexander.

Since completing a bachelor’s and master’s degree in mathematics at the University of Arkansas, Alexander has worked for more than 30 years in investment banking and as a housing analyst. She was the first woman to serve as a managing director of Salomon Brothers, where she founded and managed Construction and Furnishings Group in the Investment Banking Division. Alexander also has been affiliated with Dillon Read, Smith Barney, Investors Diversified Services Inc. and Wachovia Bank & Trust Company, N.A. During her years as a housing analyst, Alexander was consistently ranked by Institutional Investor magazine as the No.1 housing analyst in the United States.

Alexander’s years of service with nonprofit groups includes working with the Joint Center for Housing Studies at Harvard University, Covenant House, HomeAid America and the New York Advisory Board of the Enterprise Foundation. For her achievements, Alexander has received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Arkansas.

Members of the HFHI board receive no compensation for their voluntary service. Board members typically serve two terms with three years in each term period.
